The venue that currently serves as the Chicago Bulls arena, the United Center, opened on August 18, 1994. The United Center, so named because of the venue's naming rights contract with United Airlines, hosts more than 100 basketball games on the Chicago Bulls Schedule and Blackhawks hockey games each year and at least 200 total events annually. According to the stadium's official website, more than 20 million people have bought tickets to one of the many events which have taken place at the United Center. In addition to NBA basketball and NHL hockey, the Windy City arena hosted the Democratic National Convention in 1996 as well as many exceptional concerts, including the Rolling Stones, U2 and Paul McCartney. Among the other events which have been held there are the NCAA "March Madness" Men's Basketball Tournament, the Big Ten Conference's Men's Basketball Championships, the Great Eight Classic, DePaul University college basketball games, the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Disney on Ice, and the Champions on Ice tour.

Chicago Bulls Arena: Home To The Best Team Ever?
As the Chicago Bulls arena, the United Center was the venue that saw perhaps the best team in professional basketball history take the court. It was during the 1995-96 season, Michael Jordan's first full season back after his 1993 retirement. With Scottie Pippen fresh off the best season of his career and the newly acquired Dennis Rodman added to an excellent supporting cast that included Toni Kukoc, Ron Harper and Steve Kerr, the Bulls went 72-10 on the season and cruised through the playoffs to win the NBA Championship. They won 31 out of 32 at one point, going undefeated in January and winning their first 37 games at the United Center. Jordan was named the NBA's Most Valuable Player, leading the league in scoring with a 30.4 points per game average. Including the playoffs, Chicago won 87 out of 100 games during the year -- the best overall mark in league history.
